Jessie: Senior Portraits | Chasity Furse Photographer, San Antonio TX

I’ve had the honor of knowing Jessie and her family for many years.  Jessie’s mom, Sherry, is one of my sweet friends that I know from church. I’ve shot their family portraits a few times now and we have another in the works before Jessie leaves for college in the fall. Jessie is a Diamond Dancer at Reagan and is active in our church and youth group. It’s always very bitter sweet when I see these kids “grow up” right before me. Watching them pass through the phases of middle school and into high school and then off to college. UGH….I swear it does nothing for the denial of my age!

Jessie & Sherry wanted to shoot out in Bracken Village and we had a great time. Unlike most weekends, it was fairly empty other than the Bless Your Heart girls doing a fashion shoot.:)

Wanted to share a few of my faves from her gallery. Always tough to choose….

In other news I hope to catch up on some older sessions and post them here. Again, it’s always so hard to keep up here and if ever you run here and want to see more recent work it’s usually uploaded on the Facebook Fan Page before it’s anywhere else so be sure to become a fan to check things out!

Diaz Family Portraits | San Antonio Family Photographer

Nicole & Michael have a beautiful 7 month old daughter, Jocelyn.  They are soaking in this first year of Jocelyn’s life and trying to keep up as they watch her grow.  However, they have just been handed the toughest news a parent can hear.  Jocelyn has been diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer called anaplastic ependymoma. Rather quickly she has undergone a major surgery to remove as much of the tumor as possible and for the next year will be receiving chemotherapy

I first heard about Nicole & Michael and their story through my sweet friend, Andrea.  Andrea and Nicole are best friends and Andrea had asked for prayers for Jocelyn and the Diaz family as they faced this chapter in their lives. Their story struck me because it’s a story you hear about so often yet you can never truly understand the sheer heaviness of it until you are living it. Those of us blessed with healthy children do not  know what it is to be faced with news of this magnitude. Yet simply because you are a parent your heart breaks and you begin to fill yourself with hope for a joyous outcome.

Weeks before ever meeting the Diaz family I was in prayer for them and for Jocelyn and her journey. Andrea approached me at one point and wanted to arrange a session for their family. I was honored and touched that she had asked me and I was happy to be able to offer my services to them in order to document such a special moment in their lives. To capture the beauty of their daughter and the love of their family.

Jocelyn was a trooper during the shoot! We met early in the morning but unless you are shooting in January, early in South Texas still means HOT.  We all put on a smile and were ready to endure the misery that is summer. Good thing Jocelyn is such a cutie pie..she totally kept me distracted from the fact that my hair was a giant fuzz ball from the humidity and I was dripping in sweat.  I was thrilled to be there with them and sharing the time with them. They are such a sweet, upbeat family and the love they have for one another was obvious. I’m so fortunate to have been a part of it.

Take a peek at some of my favorites from the day.

A big thanks to Andrea for arranging this and of course to Nicole, Michael & Jocelyn. My heart and prayers are always with you!

Nicole and Michael showed me the pictures you took of their family this weekend. You did an amazing job capturing Jocelyn’s spirit and the love they have for eachother. From her family, a huge thank you.

The Krupczak Family Portraits | Gruene, Texas Family Photographer

It’s a bit crazy when you get to photograph people you’ve known from your carefree days as a “young adult” because in the midst of photographing you realize how far you’ve come and well, honestly, how old you are. This was somewhat the case when I got to photograph Lindsay & Trevor’s family a couple months ago in Gruene, Texas.

Trevor was a friend of Mark’s (my husband) before Mark and I started dating. Mark was best friends with Trevor’s brother, Eddy (who is now Brooklyn’s Godfather) and I literally met Trevor the first weekend I moved to San Antonio. It was Mark’s 22nd birthday and a big group of us headed out to the lake to celebrate. Trevor was there and all I remember thinking was that he was quite possibly one of the funniest people I’d ever met. It’s next to impossible to take the guy seriously. He’s pretty much still the same way all these years later.

It’s pretty amazing to think of how young we all were back then and now we are all “grown up” and have these families and crazy lives that keep us from seeing each other as often as we would like. That’s why it was so great when Lindsay emailed me to say she wanted me to do some family photos for them. Loved seeing them all again and how big the boys have gotten. We had a great time in Gruene!

Here are some of my favorites from their session!

Jake: Senior Portraits | San Antonio, TX Senior Photographer

I always feel like I start a blog post off explaining why I’m so lucky to have the job that I have. Do I say that a lot? Is it annoying? I suppose only to those of you who are sitting in a cubicle wishing you were anywhere else in the world…and if you are one of those people…eeek. So sorry.

However, I am indeed super fortunate to do what I love. It’s not always easy and there are definitely days when I feel like the person sitting in a cubicle and wishing I was anywhere else in the world. I think that’s just part of life. There are always going to be moments when you want to just bang your head against the wall regardless of what your job is or how much love it or loathe it.

One of the things that makes my job so rockstar awesome is that I have clients who return to me over and over again. They are my favorites. For real.  Having someone trust me enough to continue to take their family photos is pretty humbling and always amazing.

The Hopkins family are like that for me. Trish and Craig were some of my very first clients. Seriously…they came to me during my portfolio building days. We did their first family session that year and I had such a great time with them! They came to me again a couple years later when they were hosting an exchange student from Germany and they wanted another round of family photos. Another great session. Trish came to me earlier this year and we did some awesome boudoir photos of her for Craig’s Valentine’s Day gift and then just about a month ago we got together yet again for her oldest son’s senior portraits.

One of the reasons I love shooting this family so much is because of the way they interact with one another. It’s just comfortable. The whole family is just at ease with themselves and each other and totally laid back and I love that about them. Jake is definitely no different. I’m pretty sure I could’ve shot him for at least another 2 hours but really…I’m sure he was totally over it. Such a good sport though. Even when we made him get all “Bon Jovi” for us and stuck him on the railroad tracks with his guitar. lol

It was a great session out in New Braunfels. I absolutely loved shooting out there. Walking around town, shooting and chatting with Jake & Trish completely reminded me of why I do, in fact, have the best job. Thanks Trish & Jake!

Jake will be attending UT-Austin in the fall. Best of luck!!!!!

Here’s a peek of some of my faves from Jake’s session.

Kendall:2 Year Portraits | San Antonio, Portrait Photographer

Going along with the theme of basically I’m the suck-iest blogger ever I recently began the daunting process of excessive back up (again) and during this little summer project I’ve realized just how awful and lazy I’ve become at blogging my clients photos here on the blog. They do make it up on my Facebook Fan Page typically sooner than they do here but even that is lacking.

Rather than make any more excuses or promises to blog better or post more images I’m going to just try to play a little catch up here and there when I can. I’ve got several organizational projects taking place this summer and so far I’ve been pretty motivated to stay on task so let’s hope some summer blogging is coming as well.

In January my sweet little niece turned 2. We were fortunate that she was here visiting for the holidays in December and my sister in law asked if I’d take her 2 year portraits. I was happy to do so. I shot her newborn images when I was in Seattle helping when she first arrived so I was super excited to go out and get to to shoot some new images for them. We knew we wanted to head to the #2 Fire station right down the road so we could utilize the giant red #2 like I did for Parker when he was 2.  Afterward we headed out to the gorgeous JW Marriott. The lighting was perfect and the temps were amazing. If I could bring those back today I’d do it in a heartbeat. Hello 109 degrees here today! EEEK.

So here’s a slideshow of my sweet little miss thang. They’ve since moved from Seattle back here to San Antonio so be on the look out for more great shots of this little chica!
